Washington Commanders history
The franchise dates to 1932 and has played in the Washington area since 1937, now as the Commanders after earlier names, playing at Northwest Stadium. They have won three Super Bowls, after the 1982, 1987, and 1991 seasons, along with two earlier NFL championships. Those Super Bowl teams were led by head coach Joe Gibbs.
