How a middle works
You take one team +7 early in the week, the line moves, and you take the other side -3 later. If the favorite wins by 4, 5 or 6, both bets win. Anywhere else, one wins and one loses, and you are out only the juice on the loser.
The real cost of a middle
A middle is not free. If it misses, you pay the margin on the losing side, so the middle needs to hit often enough to cover that. The wider the gap between your two numbers, and the more key numbers sit inside it, the better the odds of landing in the middle.
