North Dakota Sports Betting: Sportsbooks & Apps (2026)

By ·October 15, 2025 · 5 min read·Updated October 4, 2026

North Dakota has no state-licensed online sportsbook as of October 2026, so DraftKings, FanDuel and BetMGM do not operate there. Sportsbook betting in North Dakota happens in person, at counters inside tribal casinos.

From a phone, North Dakotans can use BettorEdge, a peer-to-peer betting marketplace where you bet against other people instead of a house. Here is what is available in North Dakota, where the casino sportsbooks are, and what could change next.

North Dakota sportsbooks: where to bet in person

The only North Dakota sportsbooks are retail counters inside tribal casinos. Dakota Magic Casino in Hankinson, run by the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate, took the state's first legal sports bet on December 1, 2021. Other tribal casinos have added sportsbooks since, and BettingUSA lists these:

  • Dakota Magic Casino, Hankinson
  • 4 Bears Casino, New Town
  • Sky Dancer Casino, Belcourt
  • Spirit Lake Casino, St. Michael
  • Grand Treasure Casino, Trenton
  • Prairie Knights Casino, Fort Yates

Hours and betting menus vary, so check with the casino before you make the drive. Casino sportsbook bets have to be placed on site.

Why North Dakota has no online sportsbooks

Licensing online sportsbooks in North Dakota would take a constitutional amendment approved by voters, so lawmakers cannot simply pass a sportsbook bill. Three attempts to put one on the ballot have failed:

  • 2021: HCR 3032 passed the House 70-24 but failed in the Senate 23-24. It would have put sports betting on the 2022 ballot.
  • 2023: HCR 3002 passed the House 49-44 and failed in the Senate 16-30.
  • 2025: HCR 3002, which would have put sports betting on the November 2026 ballot with tax revenue going to K-12 schools, failed in the House 24-70.

No sports betting measure is on the November 2026 ballot. The North Dakota Legislative Assembly holds regular sessions only in odd-numbered years, so the next chance is the 2027 session.

North Dakota betting apps you can use in 2026

With no North Dakota online sportsbooks, the betting app most North Dakotans can use today is a peer-to-peer marketplace. BettorEdge is not a sportsbook: there is no house setting the odds or taking the other side, which is why it reaches North Dakota when sportsbook apps do not.
