- Starting QB from last season is gone. There is a three person QB battle between returner Thomas Gotkowski (575 yards, 4 TDs, 1 INT), Fort Hays State transfer Caleb Heavner (1,590 yards, 9 TDs, 9 INTs; 664 rushing yards 5 rushing TDs), and Kansas transfer David McComb (DNP in 2025; 3-Star QB in Class of 2025 per 24/7 Sports)
- Starting RB from last season is gone. Monmouth transfer Rodney Nelson is expected to start (1,805 yards - 3rd in FBS, 18 TDs - 8th in FBS)
- Top two players in terms of receiving yards from last season are gone, with the top returner being Keith Reynolds (352 yards, 1 TD)
- Returning four starting offensive lineman that allowed 26 sacks in 2025 (T-81st in CFB)
- Returning four starters on defense, with their top returner being LB Malcolm McClain (73 tackles). Four transfers are expected to start including South Alabama transfer LB Blayne Myrick (83 tackles) and Kent State transfer LB CJ Young (89 tackles)
