What changed for UMass in 2026
- New offensive coordinator in Max Warner (Toledo Offensive Analyst; Previously Bowling Green Co-Offensive Coordinator)
- Starting QB from last season is gone. There is a QB battle between Virginia Tech transfer William Watson III (77 yards, 0 TDs, 0 INTs) and Florida A&M transfer RJ Johnson III (2,597 yards, 18 TDs, 4 INTs)
- Starting RB from last season is gone. Murray State transfer Jordan Washington is expected to start (340 yards, 3 TDs)
- Top two players in terms of receiving yards are gone, with the top returner being TE Max Dowling (199 yards, 3 TDs). Two transfers are expected to start at WR in Campbell transfer Randall King (689 yards, 5 TDs) and East Texas A&M transfer Devin Matthews (649 yards, 7 TDs)
- No starting offensive lineman return with three transfers expected to start
- Returning four starters on defense, including their top defensive player in LB Tyler Martin (104 tackles)
