A World Series future pays if your team wins the whole thing. Twelve teams make the MLB postseason: the top two seeds in each league skip the best-of-three Wild Card round, then it is a best-of-five Division Series, a best-of-seven League Championship Series and the best-of-seven World Series. A Wild Card team has to win four rounds; a bye team needs three.
Baseball is the most random of the major sports in a short series. Even a dominant team wins only around 60% of its games, and a best-of-three or best-of-five can turn on one start. That is why the World Series favorite rarely prices shorter than about +200, and why longshots win more often in October than in any other league's playoffs.
+400 means the market gives a team about a 20% chance; +1000 about 9%. Add up every team's implied chance and the total runs over 100%, and the amount above 100 is the margin in the prices. A team's pennant price is the first half of its path: it has to win its league before it can win the World Series.
