What a Heisman future settles on
The Heisman Trust's ballot: media voters split across six regions of the country, every living past winner, and one aggregated fan vote. Each ballot ranks three players, scored 3, 2 and 1, so a winner has to show up on ballots in every region rather than dominate one.
Key dates
Ballots for the 2026 award are due in early December, after conference championship weekend. The trophy is presented in New York later that month. The College Football Playoff and the bowls do not count, because the votes are already in while those games are played.
What moves a Heisman price
Team record first: voters reward players on teams that stay in the national title conversation into November. Then exposure in big games, a clean run of health, and the field narrowing, which by late November usually leaves a market of two or three live names and a long list of dead prices.
Reading the implied chance
+500 means the market gives a player about a 17% chance; +5000 about 2%. A Heisman board with dozens of names adds up to far more than 100%, and the excess is margin, most of it in the long prices. Convert each price before you compare two candidates.
