What changed for Nebraska in 2026

  • New defensive coordinator in Rob Aurich (San Diego State Defensive Coordinator and LB Coach)
  • Starting QB from last season is gone. UNLV transfer Anthony Colandra (3,459 yards, 23 TDs, 9 INTs; 649 rushing yards, 10 rushing TDs)
  • Starting RB from last season is gone, so returners Mekhi Nelson (147 yards, 2 TDs) and Isaiah Mozee (115 yards, 0 TDs) are expected to split carries
  • Top two players in terms of receiving yards return in Nyziah Hunter (617 yards, 5 TDs) and Jacory Barney Jr. (484 yards, 5 TDs). UCLA transfer WR Kwazi Gilmer is expected to start (535 yards, 4 TDs)
  • Returning two starting offensive lineman with three transfers expected to start
  • Returning five starters on defense, with the top returner being Rex Guthrie (63 tackles).Three transfers are expected to start including San Diego State transfers in LB Owen Chambliss (68 tackles, 4 sacks) and CB Dwayne McDougle III (29 tackles, 4 INTs)
