What changed for Southern Miss in 2026
- New head coach in Blake Anderson (Southern Miss Offensive Coordinator)
- New offensive coordinator in Kyle Cefalo (California Passing Game Coordinator & WR Coach) and defensive coordinator in Joe Bolden (Tulsa Special Teams Coach)
- One offensive starter returns (offensive lineman), and no defensive starters return
- Backup QB Landry Lyddy is expected to start (406 yards, 2 TDs, 3 INTs)
- UMass transfer RB Brandon Hood (368 yards, 2 TDs) and returner Robert Briggs (304 yards, 1 TD) are expected to split carries
- Expected starters at WR include returners Davis Dalton (82 yards, 1 TD) and Grant Page (DNP in 2025; 281 yards, 2 TDs with Utah State in 2024) and Chattanooga transfer A.J. Little (345 yards, 1 TD)
- Top expected starters on defense include returning LB Mathis Haygood (44 tackles) and Akron transfer LB Melvin Spriggs (51 tackles)
