UTSA Roadrunners 2026 Preview
UTSA went 7-6 (4-4 in the American). Here is what changed on the roster, the full 2026 schedule, and where they rank going into the season.
What changed for UTSA in 2026
- New offensive coordinator in Rick Bowie (Western Kentucky Offensive Coordinator)
- Owen McCown returns at QB after a junior season of 2,995 yards, 30 TDs (T-6th in CFB), and 7 INTs
- Starting RB from last season is gone, so backup Will Henderson III is expected to start (866 yards, 6 TDs)
- Two out of the top three players in terms of receiving yards from last season return in AJ Wilson (528 yards, 4 TDs) and David Amador II (443 yards, 4 TDs)
- Returning three starting offensive lineman that allowed 21 sacks in 2025 (T-47th in CFB)
- 2025 PPG/YPG: 34.5 ppg (14th out of 136), 417.2 ypg (25th out of 136)
- Returning three starters on defense with the top returner being LB Brandon Tucker (39 tackles). Six transfers are expected to start on defense, including Angelo State transfer S Xavier Walton (68 tackles, 6 INTs), Marist State transfer S Nate Robinson Jr. (64 tackles, 4 INTs), and San Bernadino Valley Junior College transfer CB Asaad Champan (42 tackles, 3 INTs)
