What changed for Syracuse in 2026
- New defensive coordinator in Vince Kehres (Toledo Defensive Coordinator and LB coach)
- Steve Angelli returns at QB after a 2025 season of 1,317 yards, 10 TDs, and 2 INTs (Played only 4 games due to injury)
- Top two RBs from last season are gone. Jackson State transfer Ahmad Miller is expected to start (1,035 yards, 5 TDs)
- Top seven players in terms of receiving yards are gone with the top returner being Darien Williams (101 yards, 1 TD). Two projected starters include Glendale Community College transfer Zamondre Merriweather (961 yards, 15 TDs) and freshman Calvin Russell III (5-star recruit and #3 overall WR in Class of 2026 per 247 Sports)
- Returning two starting offensive lineman
- Returning five starters on defense, with their top returner being LB Gary Bryant III (57 tackles). Four transfers are expected to start, including UNLV transfer DE Tunmise Adeleye (6 sacks) and UT-Martin transfer Keyshawn Johnson (53 tackles, 13.5 sacks - 3rd in FCS)
