What changed for Texas in 2026

  • New defensive coordinator in Will Muschamp (Georgia Defensive Analyst)
  • Arch Manning returns at QB after a sophomore season of 3,163 yards, 26 TDs, and 7 INTs, as well as 399 rushing yards and 10 rushing TDs
  • Starting RB from last season is gone. NC State transfer Hollywood Smothers is expected to start (939 yards, 6 TDs)
  • Top player in terms of receiving yards from last season returns in Ryan Wingo (834 yards, 7 TDs). Auburn transfer Cam Coleman is expected to start (708 yards, 5 TDs)
  • Returning two starting offensive lineman
  • 2025 PPG/YPG: 30.5 ppg (27th out of 136), 388.5 ypg (64th out of 136)
  • Returning four starters on defense, with their top returner being LB Collin Simmons (43 tackles, 12 sacks - T-4th in FBS). Three transfers are expected to start on defense including Pittsburgh transfer LB Rasheem Biles (100 tackles)
